Considerations Before Hiring an Electrician

It’s helpful to think about certain things before hiring an electrician.

  • To ensure your work is done up to code, you want to hire more than just a licensed electrician but also one that is experienced in the trade.
  • Most electrical contractors don’t mind giving you an estimate (or bid). Often times, smaller jobs are estimated over the phone.
  • Don’t buy the materials for the job yourself just because you think it will save you money. It usually does not. Especially if you get the wrong part and are stuck paying (in labor) for the electrician to now go acquire the correct part for you. It is better for the electrician to make the purchases. He knows exactly what you need for your projects and repairs, after all!
  • The electrician may need to cut holes in your wall for the work he is doing. These types of repairs unfortunately are expected and is not repaired by the electrician. You are ultimately responsible for the cost of any sheetrock repair. But we can refer to you a reputable contractor if needed!
